Comfort

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” (John 14:1-4 NIV)

The heading in the NIV study Bible for this section is, Jesus Comforts His Disciples. I am incredibly comforted by these few verses. I’ve loved them since I was a young girl. Along with comfort they brought me a great deal of hope -hope of a wonderful future with Abba-Jesus-Spirit. It’s strange but, until recently, I believed that it was only a distant hope; that one day in the future when Jesus returns, then I will be happy, comforted, and with Jesus.

I have discovered that I can actually live with Jesus in freedom now. I don’t have to sit around, all alone, and wait for Him. I can enjoy Him now; I can live with Him now. Yes, there will be a further fulfilment which will happen eventually, but my waiting days are over.

That has been revolutionary for me. It’s changed me a lot. It’s changing me a lot. I’m enjoying living a life of discipleship. It’s an adventure, one which I have no map for but I’m excited to see where the LORD leads me. I’d love you to join me on my journey of discovery and discipleship.
