15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” (Luke 2:15)
What a commotion! I can just imagine it. A whole host of angels appearing and then praising, speaking, and perhaps even singing. If that were to happen today, straight away there would be hundreds of posts about it on Facebook and Twitter. Everyone would be talking about it, wouldn’t they?
I’m sure that everyone was talking about it at the time too. I wonder how fast the details spread.
Obviously, the only information about what they were discussing amongst themselves is this: ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” Having listened to the angel’s message, and witnessing a host of angels praising God, they seem keen to go and see the baby in the manger, for themselves.
I wonder how much calming the sheep needed, after all the commotion!
