On Saturday 6th July I had my head shaved! I wasn’t crazy, I did it to raise money, and awareness, for Yeldall Manor – a Christian drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre for men, near Reading. Having my head shaved was a drastic change, but something else happened. Something amazing!
Afterwards I was covered in hair on my face. I walked through crowds of people voicing their admiration of me, to the bathroom. I washed my face in the sink and then took a look at myself in the mirror. For the first time ever I thought I looked beautiful! That was the most drastic change in my life so far, surpassing the head shave by a long way. I’ve had an eating disorder for 21 years. I’ve been told repeatedly that I’m fat, ugly, and stupid – it took having my head shaved to debunk those things.
I’m so happy right now, and praising God.
I’m going to go now, before I cry. I hope this encourages you.
Blessings and peace, Hannah
