This morning when I opened Bible Gateway I noticed that their Word for Today is, ‘For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.’ (Psalm 33:4-5 NKJV).
I never used to, but I’ve found a love for the Psalms. They’re written by broken people, namely David. He was a king. He was chosen to rule over Israel. He was the apple of God’s eye – but he was broken.
He was a lying, cheating, murderer, but he was also beloved by God. One of the reasons I like the Psalms is because David (as one of the largest contributor to the Psalms, as I am led to understand) is honest about his experiences and emotions. I like that, because I’m like that too. Therefore, I find it helpful to connect with the positive reminders within the Psalms – like the one above.
When negative circumstances surround us we can find glimmers of hope when we look around us. ‘The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord’ – it’s true. Just look at the birds, animals, trees, flowers, sun, moon, stars. There is beauty all around. Go out and see the goodness.
